Check out the review by Alex on Autos here on youtube. He exceeds the EPA by a few mpg. I know Honda had a stunt for the automotive press to see which group got the highest mileage where the winner gets dinner paid for by Honda. The highest was 58.6 mpg.

Alex met them with normal driving and exceeded them with only a small amount of changing his driving behavior. I urge you to check out his video as well. I am not affiliated with him, but I do find his reviews very insightful (as I do yours). There is alot of misinformation relating to the Accord Hybrid and I've found many sources who have easily met or exceeded the mileage with normal/slight driving changes. I am especially disappointed with Consumer Reports, yet another reason I think they're full of themselves.

If I get this car I will certainly let you know the mileage I get. :)

If you exceed the EPA numbers in this car than you're hypermiling.

For you patriotic fans the Honda Accord is the 14th Most American Car built in 2014. The car is made in Marysville Ohio and the Motor is built in Anna Ohio.

I don't understand the mixed reviews on the mileage of the Accord. Maybe it's because 87 octane fuel isn't being used as the manual suggests? Maybe my car has a different ECU/ PCM flash?!? If I can get 42 MPG out of my car the way I drive I don't understand how the car can get anything less than 42 MPG.

I've had my 2014 Accord Hybrid since May 1st and have 1280 miles on the car. I live in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming and have yet to get less than 42 MPG out of the car. I turned the driving coach lights off and have never had the car in Econ mode. I've been driving as I normally do not really trying to hyper mileage the car. Most of my driving has been in town but I have driven a 300 mile round trip to Devils Tower. The car gets great mileage!!

Driving the car does take some getting used to. When driving the generator motor can be heard if the battery pack needs support to accelerate the car. Often when the generator is assisting the battery pack the RPMs of the motor heard has almost no relationship to the application of your foot on the gas pedal. This takes some getting used to but besides this little quirk the car is Brilliant!!

Ford Fiesta 1.0 gave me 70 mpg on the highway.  Most importantly it only costs $15,500 so it saves your money *upfront* instead of gas savings.  (Ditto the base Accord at only $21,000.)

I did beat the EPA numbers
      Easily 59 mpg in city
52 mpg in mixed driving, small hwy 60 mile per hour.
      I am not a hyper miler , but I drive conservatively .
On interstate 45 mpg but I do not exceed 70 miles per hour as ev mode will not work.

Why do car companies always post gas mileage that's unrealistic? There should be a law against this. It's a form of false advertising.

Your review was excellent. Thanks for doing it.

The best mileage I have gotten in my Accord EX-L  2.4 L with the CVT with ECON & cruise  on with the air conditioning off with an outside tem of 65 degrees on a 2 lane highway traveling 55 mph is 46.5 mpg.

I feel as if direct injection more of a power/torque benefiting thing rather than fuel economy...

DI also enables lean burn mode (by putting the fuel directly at the spark plug) and that saves fuel on the highway

The epa is bullshit. Minus 5 mpg what they say and thats what you really get.

It makes typical whirring electrical noises when in EV mode but nothing specifically for that purpose.
