The RS4 is a very underpowered heavy car. Nothing special, the Audi S & RS cars are not marketable like it use to be. I hope Audi will bring it alive again, for now M// and AMG are the benchmarks.

Even though the b8 s4 is better statistically than the b7 rs4, I get the feeling the rs4 is a car that is more than a stats car. I feel like it's a car that when you drive it though it just feels special.

Donald my Apr stage 3 straight pipe and a few 'coachbuilt' parts pushes out 570hp and can keep up with an aventador. Not to mention the 3.4 sec 0-60 time

+Jack lmao well I do love someone making such claims on a video with a 5 year old and 8 year old car... This s4/5 has already been updated from the b8 to b8.5 platform, and the b9 s4/5 is being launched next month at the Frankfurt auto show.
The rs4/5 isn't under-powered, that IS the power that a street tuned version of the 4.2 mugen-honda racing v8 that audi uses in DTM. It's "special" even if it doesn't make enough torque to excite you, because it's actually a racing engine.
However it should be mentioned- with ecu software the s4/5 is able to easily make more power then the rs5 and even a stock f80 M3.
      S4/5s do 11.8sec 1/4 mile and 3.8 sec 0-60, with a tune.

You say there is nothing special- the only other brand to make a supercharged v6 is jaguar(and if you ever bother trying a supercharged car, you see why all AMGs used to be supercharged), and NO OTHER BRAND has come out with something like the optional torque vector diff (essentially a secondary trans) you can get in the s4/5- allowing you to turn-in far easier on-throttle, usually to the point of oversteer. Combined with being able to send 85% power to the back via the center diff, S4/5s with this rear diff don't understeer.

Last thing, It's ///M....not "M//" like you put it. You don't know your shit AND honestly, if you actually "hope Audi will bring it alive again" you'd already know all the stuff that makes the s4/5 great AND that in the past 5 years, audi has grown at twice the rate of BMW and Merc.

quick reality check on weight distribution while we are at it:
      s4/5: 55:45
      WRX STI: 58:42
      Lancer: 60:40
      Evo: 60.7:39.3
Looks like audi does a pretty good job balancing their AWD cars...

True, but not everyone has $20K laying around to dump into a car that already cost $55k. I have a 2012 S4, but I don't plan on making it a RS4. It would be nice... that's for sure.

i kinda gotta disagree the arm rest is irritating as fuck especially when your getting in and out a lot. the v6 noise will always be trumped by a v8 it simply sounds better. the navi i ripped out in favor of a tablet in place of head unit so i cant comment on it that much but i still have bose speakers and i dont see why they dont like it. everything else is pretty much on them and their personal tastes.

burns oil? I cant believe i hear that a lot about Audi engines, Yet I have a 2003 a4 1.8t one of the most talked down about engines with 120,000 miles on it and i don't even have to add a half a quart sometimes don't even have to add any oil in between 3,700 mile oil changes. What gives.

@fuckoffgoogle My dad took his to Audi and mentioned the oil and they told him it was completely normal with these engines and is just to be expected.

@SenszR I tune these cars at the shop I work at. There are plenty of 3.0TFSI's driving around with 490hp on 104ron and not one I've seen burns oil.
I mean I'm sure there's some cars that burn oil BUT it's not commonplace at all. How should I know what went wrong with your dad's, maybe it's the people that wait the 10kmile interval between oil changes on a high-performance engine that develop problems.
Even the blowby on the tuned cars have been pretty minimal- checked via oil analysis.

All I know is, the b8 s4/5 is one common car in my area, as in I see 2 per day- not one has been a smoke show yet in years. (based how insane everyone drives, I'm going to guess this is going to change soon as those cars get older :P)

In the high altitudes of Colorado its no contest. An S4 absolutely stomps out an RS4 in acceleration and around a track. Obviously the RS4 has better suspension and brakes, but that is about it. The old RS4 cant torque vector, so it just struggles to get around a track. RS4's are slow in Colorado.
