2.7 ecoboost motor failure at 25k miles. My review on the motor and what happened before mine let go.

Link to a video of a different 2.7 leaking out of the oil pan, mine was doing the exact same thing. automobilrevue.net/v/V2dOM0JxVE00eGM

Ford crap. 5.0 is the best engine ford has ever made. I traded my 2018 Ford F-150 because it was making a whining sound in the transmission area. Brought it to ford twice and was told it’s normal. I don’t think so. Traded it in for a Dodge Challenger and I’ll be getting a ram soon,

I agree. I’ve always had older trucks. I was very disappointed when I paid 46k for my Ford F-150 5.0 and the tranny was making a weird clacking and whining sound. I brought it back twice to the dealer only to hear it’s normal. So I won’t be buying new anymore. I had no choice but to trade my truck in for something else. I figured I wanted the challenger rt and I would use my old Ford F-150 for work and when this truck goes I’ll just purchase an older ram again. I’m aware of the front ends on dodge are bad I guess there’s not really any good trucks to choose from.

@R.C. PRODUCTIONS C I'll give you that, American made is junk. I bought a new ram 1500 in 03. By 07 the dash was completely gone. The cheap plastic cracked and collapsed in on itself. Had to have the ball joints replaced at 50k miles. Besides that no real problems. I personally haven't had any trouble with my 3/4 ton Sierra ( excluding brake recall I found out about 3 days ago lol). But the he key word you used is "old" ram. It's not the same company anymore. Since Fiat bought Chrysler in 2014 it's been downhill. They're still producing beautiful vehicles. aesthetically I think Dodge is about as good as it gets, but mechanically they're cutting every corner available. Starters going out at 20k miles, drive shafts falling out of trucks. Junk.

With that being said, I've got 75k miles on my current truck and I'm ready to trade it in. No problems, but with these companies reputations, approaching 100k miles has me gun shy.

It doesn’t matter what junk you buy these days just buy the Junk that’s better than the other junk. I had less problems with my old 5.7 ram than I did with my 20-8 f150. Not saying that it’s a bad truck just don’t like the 10 speed transmission on the new models. Look up 2017 Ford F-150 10 speed transmission recall and you’ll see what I mean.

Holy cow... The number of little penises responding to this video is incredible... "technology scary, need big engine to prove penis work important! Listen to noise!"

The 2.7L is a great F150 option. I pulled a camper for over 4000 miles after breaking in our truck, and it was incredible considering the payload.

Prove me right by replying about how you need a big crippled engine to tow.

Any real car expert saw this coming. Those power numbers on a twin turbo high stress v6 in a truck that is used for utility purposes is going to break down more than any v8.

small displacement in a truck, turbos and start stop (starting is the most wear for any car) is a disaster for longterm reliability.

The F150 Eco boost truck I had never ran right. It always had a miss and Ford could never fix it. Finally the turbos failed and I traded it for a new 5 litre v8. By the way, the Eco boost doesn't get better gas mileage when compared to the 5 litre.

I'm the last person to defend Ford but isn't the Ecoboost pretty solid generally, you have to also consider how many millions of these they've sold.

Think about it... you are pulling a load on a small boosted engine. What kind of wear do you think you are putting on it. I wish you could use escan by ATS and see what you are really doing with that engine!! You are at altitude also. Of course the valve exploded. Plastic is great for bumpers but an oil pan? Silly idea. The pan could have had a defect. You like the idea of saving money. Get a real truck and a Toyota Prius!

So did Ford at least warranty the engine due to its failure? Or did you have to join a class action?

The engine block was probably cracked at the bolts that were leaking to begin with. The mechanics should've done an ultraviolet leak test from the very beginning to determine the leak source.

Ok I'm just going to have to be that one "ass" and just say what everyone is thinking! "I bet you wish you had gotten the v8 now"!....I have to know why people think that putting a small displacement engine with a turbo in a full size truck is a good idea??? Yeah I get that you want better mileage but seriously the v8 is only just a little worse! I guess I could see it if your the type that never pulls a trailer or puts anything in the bed of your truck but this guy specifically got a truck to pull a trailer so again I ask how is a little engine sound like a good idea?????? Its just baffling!

People will never learn that this 2.7 is just big enough for a pinto not a big truck...... I am a retired mechanic and these small engines dont belong in trucks... that turbo is staying lit ALL the time.... GET A REAL FREAKING TRUCK and you wont have that problem.. you WILL NOT burn oil if you break off part of the valve head... you was burning oil because the cylinder was bad scored.... GET RID of that truck when warranty is out... I turned the wrench for over 25 years...if you just want a truck JUST for going to the store and grocery it's fine but this engine belongs in a honda civic

Idk wtf ur all smoking. My uncle never had any problems with his. You people can't fucking drive, that's the problem. Probably back up while going 10mph and say the tranny shit the bed. You people cant drive. Ok they make millions but you probably got a few clunkers. Yet people still loyal to Ford and people will buy them. Guess people wish GM was the only vehicle manufacturer. Well Ford's not going anywhere like Chrysler
