Which automaker company owns your favorite car brand? Most people don't know that most car brands are owned by much larger automakers. You'll be surprised that very expensive brands actually lie under what some people might consider a "cheap brand". In this video I'll pull back the curtain, and shine light on who owns who.

*UPDATE* So it looks like YouTube decided to start suggesting this older video of mine to a lot of people so I thought I'd address the following: This is an older video, in fact one of my first videos. I didn't bother looking up proper pronounciation, and was doing it for fun. So please be nice :). My newer videos are much better I promise :) Make sure to follow me on social media for updates, links below

Maybe your research should be a little bit more extensive, you mentioned Mclaren which is small but did not mention Opel, Vauxhall, Citroen or Peugeot which are a lot bigger.

Very much of the information is wrong too, for example Saab do not specialize in airplanes it is a different company that originally was named Saab. Saab group of defense just lended the right to use of the name and logo for its cars and is not related in any other way. The car manufacturer just wanted a well established name in the Swedish industry when they started out.

+Kedar Pardeshi I'm offended... Nano was made as an alternate to scooters/two wheelers. It is iconic in India because of the vision shared by our late PM Mr.Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mr.Ratan Tata. Nano is not meant to be a sports car with its 600cc engine and 1.5 lakh price tag. The video is insulting nano's attributes, esp made for Indian roads having ground clearance of 180mm.

Dude, I love what you're doing here and I just subbed, but your research aint deep enough.

For example, BMW has been owned by ONE family, the Quandt family with some remainder shares floating in the stock market.

AG means AktienGesselschaft and it just means corporation, nothing else.

      Keep up, bro. Great channel.

Some of the brands mentioned here, I have driven before. My Dad was an engineer and bought a lot of second-hand cars, so here's a list of some of the vehicles that got me through high school and college in USA. (This is pretty long, so if you don't like it I won't do this again.)
-Fiat 128 It looks like a top-hat with wheels. 4-speed manual.
-AMC "Sportabout" wagon. I took off from a light and accidentally punched the brake pedal after being used to having a clutch. I broke the front right wheel strut and the wheel dragged on the wheel housing for a mile before I got home. A guy passed me in the right lane, heard the noise, and looked. That blank stare was hilarious!
-Fiat "Strada" (made in 1979?) This car was left-hand drive, but the ignition keyhole was also on the left of the steering column. You could stand outside the driver's door and see the keyhole. You had to turn the key back toward you to start it. 5-speed manual. Torque steer was so bad that you could straight-arm the steering wheel and change lanes using only the gas pedal if you practiced a few times.
-Volkswagen T2. Flat-4, air-cooled, 4-speed manual. It was fun to gently fish-tail this thing on gravel roads. One time my cousin and I were hungry in a "bad" neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The middle seat was taken out and we locked it up tight and opened the crank-operated sunroof and enjoyed our Little Caesar's Pizza, sitting inside in safety.
Subaru GL 4-door sedan. Flat-4 and 5-speed manual. Great, reliable car.
      NOW FOR THE FUN:
Before the Subaru was Volkswagen "Rabbit" diesel, with 230k miles on it. The rubber engine mount grommets had hardened and that thing could basically shake the fillings out of your teeth. I'm surprised it didn't shake the paint off. Passengers said they thought they were in an airplane. With the engine idling, standing outside the car with the driver's door open was so noisy with the dash shaking that you couldn't hear the engine. Close the door and then it's nice and quiet with just the engine. Front wheel drive, but the hand-brake was the back wheels. That was FUN after a snow. I would take joy rides of university classmates in the mostly empty parking area. One time I spun around a corner and flew into reverse and turned another corner and then perfectly parked in a parallel space. Everyone in the car was clapping. Turn the air conditioner off to get more power on hills, etc. The air conditioner drain hose kept clogging and the passenger foot-well would fill up with water. Easy to find your car, because it's the only one in the lot with steamed up windows. That moisture caused the headliner to become detached from the ceiling and sag down and I couldn't see out the rear-view mirror. I would reach back and "stick it back up again", and that didn't last long.
These vehicles were crap, except for the T2, but the memories are priceless.
I moved to Taiwan in 1996 and now I drive a "gogoro S1" motorcycle (electric). I think there's kind-of an improvement here. Love your videos, Christian!
