America's huge obsession for crossovers has forced many brands to introduce their version of this very small SUV. #Hyundai was a bit late to the party with the 2018 #Kona. However, unlike most of the competition, Hyundai wisely offered its torquey 1.6L #turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and AWD. Unlike the underpowered and whiny CVT's of its competitors, the 2018 Kona offers decent acceleration, a unique design, and sporty handling characteristics. It's the surprise offering in a segment that is continuing to grow over the years.

I think they are trying to copy the crosstrek! Specials the dashboard screen that shows your speed!

Why do you differ so much with Carwow Review about fuel consumption of the same vehicle? I don't know whom to believe...

I'll bet this is an awesome car.
I own the Kia Niro Hybrid and the only thing I'd change on it would be to add a turbo. The basic 1.6 non-aspirated model is pretty gutless and inefficient. I love everything else about it!

Why do reviewers always review the top of the line trim. That's not the one most people choose or can afford

@Mark Langridge the very top trim is rarely worth the money thats why most don't buy them

Typically reviewers are given a car by the manufacturer, so it's the manufacturer offering up only the top trim as a marketing tactic. I would like to see more in-depth info on middle or even base trims, though. I'm hoping to ditch my Focus for a Kona in the coming months, but I can't decide if the Ultimate package is worth the extra $4-5k over the Trend, but so far all of the reviews are for the Ultimate and barely touch on the Trend, if at all.

The cladding is unattractive in my opinion, but unnoticeable if the car itself is gray or black!

Yeah but if you get it in white with the black roof, the cladding makes it looks like the space shuttles!

These aren't bad but I wish that hyundai and kia would move the rear turn signals to the same level as the lights. In the UK you're gonna have a few near misses as they can't always be seen as easily as you think.

I hate all that plastic around the wheel wells, I’d buy it if it were one solid color, plastic always fades.

For the price is very good choice, but I would go for Volvo XC 40, its nearly 2 time more expensive, but if you don't count every coin its my winner.

Are the roof rails removable? Many will never use them and the design will be much sleeker without them
