This simply means the X-class is out of the rivals of the bakkie segments, well Ranger seems to be at the top of its game. But,,, have you guys seen the new Toyota Legend 50

Why don’t you guys provide a full life time ownership review. I have always been a hilux buyer and owner. My second last car was a ford Wildtrak. I purchased this based on similar reviews and price. After 85,000km,s had noises from dash and around the vehicle no fix from Ford. By 180,000 km,s after cooler packed it in. By 200,000i km,s engine packed it in and at 250,000 km,s the transmission was dead. In my business I owned 6 x hilux utes and retained them on average for 5000,000 km,s prior to selling. Have never experienced such problems with a Hilux and yes they were serviced fastidiously as the Ford was. This is the real test for someone making such an investment.

I`m in the trade, how the hell can anyone compare a ford to a Toyota with BUILD in mind, a Toyota will outlast any ford built today.

When will Toyota soften up the ride a bit ?? I bought a 2015 model brand new but the kids bounced around in the back of it so much I sold it. Just way too stiff compared to the competition.

Such ridiculous expensive prices. There's no value for money. All cars are made the same nowadays, they are made like washing machines, so why so expensive?

Well this showed us that you can throw the Mercedes in the bin, and choose between the Ranger or the Hilux. Ranger for all round comfort and performance, or the Hilux for off road capability and long term reliability.

Great review and you got it spot on, Hilux is still flying on past glory which is rapidly fading and as for the Merc well just a lot of cheeky giggles.

Love the hilux the Ford doesnt last here in South Africa gearbox issues and also doesnt hold up to the 300.000km mark if you've been driving alot of off roads
