Amit: I test rode the Harrier few days ago. While I liked the vehicle overall, there is one thing I found which could be a deal breaker for many.....the placement of its driver’s arm rest! It is awkwardly placed - way too back which makes the driver to move the wrist too much while shifting gears. During the test ride I observed this negative point and apprised the Tata Sales guys at the local dealership. They too acknowledged this massive shortcoming. What do you have to say about it? Did you notice this too?

This is indeed a problem, along with several other issues pertaining to ergonomics, like the dashboard fouling with the knee and USB sockets being hidden away

This whole video n presentation was live n peppy all through out. Since it's a 31 minute video, was reluctant to view it every time this video window pops up. But after viewing it, i would rate the video among the top reviews. Except for the off road part, this was a comprehensive review. Good going n a big thumps up 👍

For all the hues and cries, the quality would improve, or suggestions that help deliver a better overall product takes some time. These are pre production products and not the real production, you might have been given the trial cars, which are already been driven tested for 1000s of kms, and also i have seen production models from various manufacturers who have some small niggles even in the delivery phase, which they rectify in workshops. Just have some patience, when it is officially launched to the public, because the production started only few days back itself. I don"t understand such a detailed review, when the final product is not up for sale. Once the final product is out, then these sorts of in depth review is always welcome, but to judge pre production cars I don"t think its worth that. I even feel at times that judging a car just by driving the test cars also doesn"t provide you an honest feel, coz at times most of the test cars are not always optimally maintained, as they always change hands. Hence, a review on fresh product with continuous and long term reviews are a sort of more reliable reviews then a short term one. Lets welcome a new big step and a new product from TATA, and hope that they are able to resolve small issues and deliver the customer the best possible product. Because if the product satisfies the customer , then its a win win situation for both.

What do you mean by not understanding the point of such a detailed review?
Tata Motors itself invited automobile experts in Rajasthan. Which means Tata is meant to put everything possible in those models.

Well, we cannot base our reviews on what a product 'could be'. We have to adjudge it based on what's presented to us. We are sure Tata Motors will improve with the production models, but we had to spell out the issues with the vehicles we drove. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

you cannot beat tata motors in durability, reliability and passenger safety. ghar ka steel use hota hai every car is built like a tank. being a commercial major, refinement was the only dark spot and new tata cars are improving day by day. indica and safari used to run for years but refinement was lacking. with nexon and now harrier the refinement game has also changed. new age tata is here

@Motoroids Shredding out 21L just for looks - Harries lacks in some basics features which should be there at this price point such as electric seat adjust, electric steering wheel, sunroof, automatic variant, wireless charging, no controls for rear seat passengers to adjust AC, noisy engine, 17" alloys, normal stephen tyer etc, etc...list is bit long..what do you think? In my perspective, if Tata has offered it at max 18L on-road for XZ then it would be a great deal!

@om ranga yes, anyone can compare anything. Free speech and freedom of opinion, right? But I was just referring to your real world reference right there. No one I mean no one in India do such hardcore off-roading stuff. May be some experts, sure. Most people only use their "4×4" written SUVs as a show off gimmick or climb on footpaths when they're stuck in traffic.

I don't know why people are crying for some features which are not even there in fortuner. This is not a 40 lakhs car. It's starting ex showroom price will be 13 lakhs. It is made on range rover platform and get fiat's 2L engine. This car is more about solid build quality and safety. Nexon scored 5 stars in safety test, now imagine what harrier can score. They had to skip out on some features to to make the price aggressive. It gets terrain system, it is capable off roader while being a fwd. Look at rival cars, they all gave features by putting the quality levels of the car, xuv material isn't that great, creta made on cheap i20 platform , compass face lot of quality issues. I just don't people ignoring the safety, the car is 10 times safer than all these cars combined. Either you get solid build car or a car with some extra features with poor quality. Tata really deserves huge respect for focusing on quality than on some features.

There are a few misses by Tata with this car:
      1. No automatic option
      2. No sunroof (I know some people don't mind but competitors are offering it)
      3. No power seat adjustment
      4. No power tailgate
      5. No adjustable headrest for middle passanger in backsest, a car of this price should have it
      6. Smaller tyres, although it can be argues that samller tyres offer better ride quality
      7. No 4x4 option
      8. The ergonomics are kinda questionable like accessing the USB and AUX is a chore. And if we connect the phone, there is no proper place to keep the phone. The left knee issue comes back from Nexon.
      9. MANUAL IRVM at this price...like seriously?
      10. TATA still can't refine a damn engine. This is same engine from Jeep but Jeep has refined it to perform much better.
      11. Tata still cannot give a proper finish to a car. It's a premium car, the finishing should be top notch.
