It's always funny when some fool says "blah blah most will never go offroad" so you don't really need it, oblivious to the fact that much of the world encounters SNOW in the winter, and given more than a small amount, you may not only encounter a snow terrain just as demanding as being off-road, you might even need it to get out of your driveway in the morning because the effin' snow plow went through and you've got two feet high ice chunks between you and the road.

I think these things are awesome in winter too. And I had mine off road in the Rockies. I do love it.

Grand Cherokees were sort of ok, but like all American cars, the build quality and interior materials are shite.

No corners here in America. Clearly you’ve never been to Ohio. As far as fit and finish obviously you’ve never been in a European junker.. vw, Peugeot, Audi bmw. Really these guys compare everything to a brand new Porsche. Not enough power, fit and finish. Are you kidding me. This can’t be for real. yes, every single cherokee will be driven through a field! I guarantee that!

I had a JK once... Shot myself in the foot with that one. Then I bought a 99 WJ 4.7. 24 mpg on hwy at 70 mph! 18 into headwind. My JK got 20 and 9 into headwinds. With the back seats down, fits a twin mattress no problem. Only downside, climate control dampers and electrical gremlins. Now that I've gotten all the electrical issues sorted, it hard for me to call her Christine anymore.

Hammond gets it. Then again, he appears to be out of his mind on cocaine or speed, so...maybe not the most ringing endorsement after all. Or maybe even better...enhanced sensory perceptions, and all that.

why do they always complain about tires in the UK, is it against the law to buy your own tires or do you just get a Vauxhall Frontera with offroad tires and go "Well i guess i have to spend more money on huge chunky tyres even if i never ever offroad mmh yes"

what is weird is that there is a odd wiggle from the suspension/tyres where the car shifts side to side all the time. If you follow one you can see it, its feels odd inside too.

    • charlie dee
charlie dee In reply to Po 66

It's the way the rear suspension is designed. The upper arm is an A with a ball joint on top of the diff. When it gets even a little worn you get the famous WJ ass wiggle.

my mom used to have this car, a 2001 4.7 Limited. Very comfortable, and the V8 made the car run like a beast... the only downside: piece of shit of reliability, the car had only 65000 km and the electronics where fucked up, sometimes the key won't even turn so you could start the car. Not to mention the maintenance at the dealership was a bit to expensive ($1500)

You know, it is really sad. Jeep's are well known for their reliability but yet everywhere you turn on these online sites there is always one person who says they're garbage when history has proven otherwise. Their contemporaries are in the junkyards while they are still running fine. Anyways, the 4.7 was a steamy pile of poo compared to the 4.0 Straight-Six of happiness,

I have same jeep. This car is spacious only for Richard Hammond. I can't fit "behind myself" and at front passenger seat badly made glove box - bad for knees.

      Beardie.D In reply to Bogdanini

I prefer to sit behind the wheel rather than myself!!! Sure the leg space in the rear isnt as big as other cars but then other cars arnt as good as this Jeep either! I will never get rid of my 2002 WJ V8 i prefer it over anything, sure it maybe old now but it still drives perfect, still looks good and leaves everyone at the lights, what else do you need. Oh and i was quite surprised at Hammond's comments on its large size, i always thought it was more a mid sized 4x4, unlike the god awful Range Rovers, which by the way rust on the underside real bad, my 2002 WJ still as good as new underneath!

+Bogdanini And you have just shown how closed minded you are. I learn both systems because both have their purposes and their advantages. To say that one is the only way is just plain stupid. See ya, I can see you won't change your mind and neither will I. So lets just agree to disagree?

Because "Pascal" is shorter than "newtons per square meter " and because it's a good way to honor a great man.
I not need to study both, cause there is no use for English one. So we are about same size.
As much as you think my brain is small, it's not that small to go on personal insults.
You may try as hard as you can, but I drove and dis/assembled enough cars, to compare.

    • 852urkl
      852urkl In reply to Bogdanini

+Bogdanini Yeah, I have no problem, sometimes they put the seat forward a little bit, but honestly, I have no problems. For your little brain, I'm about 1.9 Meters tall. Learn to use both systems, neither systems are going anywhere.
We have to learn both the English Standard and the Metric System here in the States. I prefer English Standard because that is what I grew up with. Frankly a lot of the metric stuff makes zero sense. Why the hell is pressure called a pascal? Why not just call it newtons per square meter instead of giving it some fancy name?
