I absolutely love the Audi R8. I would have one over a Gallardo or a Huracan. All R8 models sound incredible. The sound they make is a proper mechanical noise. Raw engine noise.

I keep forgetting how the stock exhaust on the R8 sounds like shit.

I prefer the styling of the V8 over the v10. the exhaust tips/ the front grill/ the vents below the taillights. just overall is a much more sleek and aggressive look. even more so compared to the new R8.. audi ruined that with their new grill design.

Ugh, that sound....I'm telling you, in 10 years time, I'd far more happily buy a used one of these than that new MB AMG GT. This car has the only V8 I like, and it's for the sound and revs, alone.

+aquaticko Haha yeah i feel you. I've got a cls 63 amg and tbh cars over 200k just sound like a dream to me. Doubt I'll own one in my lifetime.

50-60k is a conceivable number for me. If we start getting over 3/4's of six figures, my brain just stops viewing something as an item I might own, and resumes viewing something as an item I'll always long for.

+aquaticko The depreciation already hit the car. Now it holds it's value quite well, so chances are in 10 years it's only going to drop 10k-20k (on models with high kilometres). This puts it the 50-60k range. A used r8 v8 high kms is $79,000 where i live

@Damian Jordan yea. Well its all about preference of course. I love to see cars being used as they should be because its always fun but i also like thr everyday ownership feel from the video and i think they do that part best.

    • Patrick Pelletier
Patrick Pelletier In reply to Damian Jordan

@Damian Jordan pretty sure not all the states will close off roads for you and the states that do usually do so in the twisting mountain/canyon roads. It also comes at a hefty price so not many can afford to do that. This is more of a review of how it would be to drive it everyday. Because if you push the limits or run it hard everyday even a german built supercar like this will break down much earlier and these aint cheap to fix. Anyways they are professional because they dont put other lives in danger. I know it may sound like an exageration but it really isnt. Also the brands wouldnt trust them with new cars if they did that. They trust motortrend more because they know that motortrend is going to pay for the damages. I dont know how wealthy winding road is but probably nowhere as rich as them. Just look at it from a buisness perspective and youll understand why.

Damian Jordan In reply to Damian Jordan

Thats the whole point of these reviews showing what the car can do. If they are professional drivers than they should be able to drive the car good. Don't have to push the limits but at least go fast and the normally on closed roads.

    • Patrick Pelletier
Patrick Pelletier In reply to Damian Jordan

Yea im sure you can but it depends on the turns. Aswell as other things. Plus thats your car. This is most likely a test car which doesnt belong to Winding Road Magazine. And their drivers are professional drivers usually. At least from what ive seen. Meaning even if they have the exact same car or worse than you they might be able to run it better making it faster on the track. Its not as much about the car than the driver. Plus as i said if its not theirs why would they push the limit they do not know yet.

@MrRavige Normally I'd like a V10 sound over a V8's, but this car is the exception. Over other V10's, the Audi's isn't as good, but the Audi's V8 is the best-sounding V8 I've ever heard.

This is the only V8 engine I've ever loved the sound of. At part throttle, you can hear every exhaust pulse distinctly, and at full throttle and high rpm, it's perfect. Definitely in my top 3 favorite engine sounds from modern cars.
