carbuyingsupport.com Greg -Your Car Angel - explains why the Lexus GX470 is the best used 4X4 that you can buy, comparing it to the Mercedes Benz ML320 and the Land Rover LR3. In term of comfort, reliability and workmanship it does not get any better than the GX models from Lexus. Lexus uses the same time-honored materials and assembly line processes that has been proffered by the parent company of Toyota. In the tradition of any truly capable off road vehicle the GX470 is the dominant player.

If you're looking for a Land Rover/Range Rover with similar mileage, check the junkyard.

Should I buy one that has been in an accident (rear ended BUT not enough damage to be salvaged or deploy air bags)? .. it’s now fixed and looks clean!

A used Gx is better than a new Suv of another brand, even the 4 runners are rusty, my 2006 gx looks showroom new. Hope its realiable like ya all say, it was pretty spendy with only 75,000 miles..

Maybe is the best . But it has been looking the same for centuries. Plus fuel efficiency is horrible my 2019 GLS much better on fuel way better design much more comfortable on the road. Change the timing belt every 100 000km that like $2000 each time . For ugly square box ????

Toyta and Lexus are the best suv. I say that because they are immortal, dont have electric or engine problems, comfortable, and very good ofroader. I own a toyota land cruiser 120 serie 2006 and its still run perfectly without any issue. If u want to buy a car toyota is the best on market forget mercedes and range rover because they are no more as the were before on the top of quality.

The thing I can't get over is they made this a v8 to be a good towing suv. Yes and helps offroad but it was really cause nothing had good towing capacity for its size suv. The rear hatch can not be opened if you have anything on the hitch. Trailers are menace. And even most bike racks either tilt back or have a swing out that I've only seen go to the right. I do love this vehicle all the times I test drove them. But could not get over that major flaw with the hatch opening to the side. So 4th gen 4runner v8 is the way I'd go. And all those suspension components on the lexus are ridiculously expensive to keep in good order on the higher mileage. Which ruins one of the major components that makes the lexus worth so much

@Bladimir Tarango right i get why you replace the belts... it was a question of IF it was a belt. The gx is basically an upscale 4runner so i figured they would've made them w chains.

RSLewis yes you’re correct , the 4.7 have belts , that’s why you replace them every 100k because they stretch

Bought my 2007 GX470 in 2010 as a CPO purchase from a Lexus dealership with 44K miles on it. Fast forward to today, there's 144K miles on it and it hasn't given me a single mechanical issue, other than the air suspension needing to have the airbags replaced under warranty. It still runs like it's brand new, though!

well all those cars or suv..cant get close to toyota 4x4..all cars are alergic on dust and high temperature like low temp. winter,,if u try to push 4x4 over limit not even one of those cars could get close to toyota..arabs will use jeep or gmc or whatever..but in desert we see only TOYOTA.. mountain peak roads or cliff we see TOYOTA..all suv are good for aspahlt,,but only 1 or 2 can endure over limit..that one is TOYOTA and AUDI QUATTRO..

When you buy used a gx470, do this: Change coolant, tranny fluid, diff oil, transfer case oil, engine oil, change air and cabin filters, change spark plugs, you must grease all u-joints and driveshafts (6 zerks), make sure the timing belt has no expired, change it asap if it did, inspect for rust. Now you are good to go.

My car just like the one you’ve shown... has a serious problem with cracking and sticky dashboard... there was a courtesy recall to replace the dashboard but not everyone was included in the recall... one big X on the Lexus service!!! Other than that I love my car!!! The dashboard issue is horrendous... as I’m worried when it will fall in my lap... yes it’s that bad!!! I’ll buy Infinity next time never again a Lexus... because they didn’t have the customer service that I expected! Very dissatisfied with that issue!!! Maybe someone out there knows a solution... I’d be glad to know! Email me at primp59@gmail.com!!
