Today we’ve wrangled one of Ford’s most capable pickups for a thorough look from top to bottom, and then head out on the road for a pair of POV test drives. For 2015, the Super Duty line of pickups gets a new optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 which outputs 440 horsepower and a stump-decimating 860 pound-feet of torque. Naturally the F350’s towing capacity has risen as well, with the maximum fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailer figure now pegged at an astronomical 26,500 pounds.

But the F350 isn’t just an engine and a set of performance statistics, so we’re going over the nuances of this formidable hauler with meticulous care, from the King Ranch interior appointments to the Ruby Red Metallic paint with Caribou accents and the 20” aluminum wheels.

The 2015 F-350 King Ranch Crew Cab 4x4 starts at $54,895, while our tester, fully loaded with the 6.7-liter diesel V8, 355 locking differential, dual alternators and other miscellaneous goodies clocks in at $66,510.

It is a nice truck but nothing wrong with cummins or duramax i actually prefer the duramax in terms of body style. Except the 2017-2020 F250/f350 my 2nd favorite body style of any truck both are beautiful especially the midnight edition duramax.

I'm going to clear up the glow plugs thing. The truck will tell you if the glow plugs are to cold. If they are to cold the truck won't start. Being this truck has already been driven to a location the glow plugs are warm enough to start and go

because with a truck like that, with that curb weight and heavy duty capabilities , it wasn't built to have a good aceleration or have a top speed like a Porsche Cayenne , but to complete  other tasks like tow something that requires 800 lbs. of torque  :)

Isn't the person who starts a diesel pickup supposed to wait 3-4 seconds after turning the key to wait for the lights to go away so the engine can start properly? Or is that only with the chevy pickups?

    • Taylor B

Jon Warrell In reply to rbuller

That was when glowplugs took a while to heat up the cumbustion chambers. I think diesels have changed a lot over the years so on a warm day you don't really have to wait for that anymore. Either that or the truck in the video was already driven and warmed up before he got in it.
