+FreaklyxXl I will certainly fall, but not because of the lack of ABS... Probably because of lack of care and stupidity.

I just bought a 2011 cbr250 and there are a few things i really like about it. I owned a ninja for nearly a year and loved it, it was my first bike and I will always have find memories of it and it might just have the edge in speed and having the power band makes it feel much faster, but... lots of little things about the cbr add up to making it a much nicer daily experience. The mirrors that allow you to clearly see what's behind you instead of a clear view of your shoulders, the fuel injection that let's you take off straight away even in the cold, the seat, the dash (fuel gauge!). Mostly little things but it's stuff you notice every single day of using it.
I found the cbr much more confidence inspiring when it comes to hard turn ins and leaning right over, it just grips and grips and it wants to put itself upright so much yoy just lean hard as you want then relax and it rights itself quick and easy. The grip feeling might have a little too do with the nicer newer tyres I have on the cbr vs the ninja but I think I would be much more able/likely to get my knee down on the cbr (might also be the suspension set up for someone closer to my weight ~100kg).

The cbr is not as exciting though. The power curve is so even and flat there is very little sensation of speed (I didn't believe the tacho the first time I rode it because it was such a calm experience). It's very confidence inspiring but not quite as fun.
For my money the cbr makes a better first bike, if got really want a fast bike your going to have to wait til your not restricted, the little bit of extra speed (and it is a little) doesn't make up for the better daily Road manners. If you get a second bike while still restricted the ninja would make a great one though. Anyone would be lucky to have either though and it should really come down to whether you can find a good deal on a straight second hand example on either and get the better value one.

As for the twin versus single for the cbr I also owned a vtr250 (though only for a month) and I found the vibration worse on the vtwin.

Guy who wanted the 125. I had it. Its only a city commuter. Dont expect to be overtaking anyone on the highway.I was in the m1 struggled to go 90kmh it just doesn't have the power.I had a CBR 125. I had a accident cause of the low power. In my opinion i should of got something a little stronger to get me out of sticky situation. You rarely stall a 250.

Of the ninja 250 and the cbr250r I would go with the cbr250r without ABS. I would get rid of the ugly heavy exhaust and add a arrow exhaust which boost the power just slightly but gives the bike a deeper sound to it.
But with the new kawasaki ninja 300 you get a much more powerfull bike (39hp vs the hondas 26.5hp) although much more expensive.
I might though spring for the honda cbr500f, not the R model. The low rewing 471cc really seems odd with the sporting looks.

I'm glad I got a Ninja 250R. The CBR250R is disgusting to look at and I would be embarrassed to admit that I owned one. The CBR250R does not deserve my money at all.

I just bought a used 2011 CBR250R been riding it for the past week. As a first bike I have no idea if this is normal or not but in 1st to 2nd gear going slow with clutch right out it's making this noise like the sprocket is worn out & not grabbing the chain, I can feel it throughout the handlebars. This is only when I'm going slow like 5 - 10k's
