Reliable build quality and reliability history? That is laughable on the 2009!

I bought a brand-new Honda Civic in 2008 of the 2009 model for in-town driving. I LOVE the driveability of the car as it drove like my old Honda Accord (it was an OLD 200,000+) car.

Was also told how awesome buying an 8-year, extended warranty. As a 20-year old female, a 8-year warranty sounded awesome! 8 year extended warranty covered absolutely nothing including the disgustingly ugly paint chipping that this car is known for. The manager at my local Honda told me to call Honda Canada, who said "Why did you call us? This isn't covered under warranty" regarding the paint chipping all along the top of the front and back of the car. Then, asked me if I parked under a tree because bird poop is a common cause of this. Then, proceeded to tell me that there are paint-chipping issues, but ONLY on certain colours, and that my gray civic just wasn't one of those colours.

I had all of my scheduled services completed by Honda Canada, only to have the car completely die at work two weeks after a scheduled service, after I told Honda the air conditioning and heating wasn't working. Open up the hood to find that the cables leading to the battery was corroded. The service department at Honda couldn't tell me why it stopped working, but guessed a rock hit the condenser. Then, charged me almost $900.00 to fix it and wouldn't cover anything under warranty.

The brakes need redone every 30,000k. I'm just approaching 100k and am going to dump this piece of trash. I used to love Honda but will never again buy any of their garbage. Their service department does NOT stand behind their products, their warranties are complete garbage, and their Canadian corporation couldn't give a shit about anything but ripping off their customers.

Amanda Rogers Warranties never covers 90% of the time! never will I ever get it. Might as well save 150 a month or even 100 and there's your own warranty savings. Just my 2 cents

Least authentic "review" possible. Great car, but I didn't come here for a sales pitch with tailored scripting and cringe-worthy facial expressions.

I bought my 2008 Civic LX sedan certified pre-owned in January of 2009 with 6,400 miles, I currently have 235,000 miles and it still drives great. Still very refined and solid considering the high mileage, and surprisingly sharp, well-weighted handling is an extra bonus. I strongly recommend this car for newer drivers or for anyone who wants an inexpensive yet seriously reliable set of wheels. Awesome commuter car. Great on gas, and cheap oil changes mean it's easy to follow recommended maintenance intervals which increases longevity.

All I've had to replace is the alternator at 200k and starter at 220k, the air conditioning crapped out at about 170k but living in the northeast it's not much of a problem for most of the year. Engine and transmission still operate very smoothly. The stereo sounds better than you would think for being only 4 speakers and the aux port is very useful. Interior ergonomics are good, there are a ton of little storage bins and a huge console under the center armrest. Overall I find that the car is packaged very well.

It's not super fast or luxurious, but it's an awesome reliable car that owes me nothing.

Watch out for the Hybrid models because the IMA hybrid batteries have a high failure rate.  Many of the batteries have been replaced under warranty though.

Forgot to mention the paint failure on dark colors, failing motors mounts and wheel bearings. That's pretty much across this entire generation.

about 1000 06 civics had the engine block problems and it was a factory its less common in 07s and some 08's. i wouldnt get too worried about it i work at a honda dealership and we have replaced 3 r18s its not common, my 07 dx sedan has 65k miles and she is still good.

Although not a name brand stereo, the system designed by Honda in the LX is one of the best sounding stock stereo systems I've heard in a long time. I basically decided to not upgrade any of the speakers at all. After 5 years it still kicks in plenty of bass and the highs and midrange is excellent. I was quite impressed.

we're thinking about a 2010 civic with Honda Certification. But the issue I found with this particular car is that it has some rust on the hubcap, otherwise it would be a great buy.

I bought a 2006 Civic EX coupe, beautiful car nice touch with the muffler that comes with it but I gotta disagree with the no rattling comment. my does make a subtle squeaking or rattling noise from the dash very frustrating.
