This is the ALT-MOST (Alternate Motorcycle Operator Skills Test) which is currently used by twenty-nine states in the U.S. This particular test took place in Michigan with a private third-party tester. The test consists of a cone weave, controlled stop, left or right turn, u-turn, quick stop, and obstacle swerve, although not necessarily in that order.

The only points deducted in this video were from me putting a foot down briefly during the u-turn, and from my stopping distance being a little too far for the quick stop.

Bike used was a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Filmed with a Drift HD 1080p action camera.

UPDATE: I realize that other states/countries may have more difficult tests, but that is not the point of this video.

It would be cool if they just had you follow an experienced instructor through a course and if you couldn't get it in 3 attempts then you fail.

Hey, your cones aren't offset by 60cm like they are here in Australia...seems like cheating lol

And No bilateral head checks at every stage (automatic fail if you don't do that here) Weird that you do the test solo, we do it in groups of up to 8 and including a 1 1/2hr road ride so the instructor can watch your roadcraft. Weird to see the 90* turn & u turn in the wrong direction as well lol

You don't move your head right round in the direction you want to go, for some reason. In the u turn you should have been looking back almost over your shoulder at the start of the turn which would have made it much tighter.

NOW LET'S SEE THIS SHARP RIGHT TURN ON A 1300cc MOTORCYCLE!!!!! This testing standard is seriously flawed. Who can't do this on a 250?

I'm still waiting for someone to post a video executing this maneuver on a large cc motorcycle, positioning it on 3 foot center within this 6 foot boundary, without cutting off the inside corner.

The ONLY answer I've received from Missouri State Highway patrol is to borrow someone's 250.
That's an admission that the standard was set for a small cc motorcycle.

Additionally city streets from center line to shoulder are 12 feet. I don't ride on sidewalks! Stupid.

      Wow.. This seems ridiculously easy..
Where I live you have to do a slow course making 8-figures no faster than 3mph.. Then there's a high speed test were you do a slalom and then a quick U-turn doing 30. Then there's two break tests, one doing 43mph and another on doing 110mph.. After that shits done you get to go out in traffic with the instructor for about 30 minutes being judged on everything you do.. I'd prefer this over what I had to do.. πŸ˜‚

In my country, you don’t have to pass this test to ride a 🏍. If you can afford a 🏍, then you good. Only in America you need to pass a test even to wash plates.

This test BLOWS no matter what, but doing it on a gsxr 1000 is a nightmare. Just say screw and borrow a buddy's bike or a scooter. I about scortched my clutch tryin to turn that slowly without putting a foot down maybe it was just me, but the instructor wasnt surprised and basically said good luck and laughed
