It's been gone for 8 long years, and finally, after too long a hiatus, the Ranger returns! While the Ranger has never really left completely, it has been gone in North America. Based on the T6 platform since 2011, with a mid-cycle refresh in 2015, the new Ranger to us is indeed a pretty mature vehicle! While this model will not give us a Raptor trim like we all hoped, it has been hinted that in 2021-2022, the all-new Ranger will indeed give us the Ranger Raptor. Until then, let us enjoy the closest you can get with this XLT SuperCrew with the FX4 Off Road Package and the Sport Appearance Package!

To everyone complaining about the price, the 4x2 models are significantly cheaper.. ish. The lariate 4 door... and random added features.... would cost me 480 roughly with a 2k down payment but the 4x4 version adds about 200$ more a month. If I wasn’t a welder I would stick with the cheaper model but I tend to need 4x4 due to the roads... or lack there of. Plus a cheap beach vehicle.

I like how you didn’t mention your opinion on anything. All the other reviews kept comparing and crap. You were very simplistic with everything and I appreciate not altering viewers opinions with your own.

+Dan Swizzle I appreciate that! That has been my method from the get go. I know my opinions, and I know that others have their own opinions. I present the facts, and others can conclude with what they think! Now, sometimes, I may throw a little bit of an opinion regarding how it drives, or certain things that I like, but I’m not going to even attempt to sway someone for or against. Thanks for the comment, and watching!!

Why are the bed sides so high?
Why 18 gallon fuel tank, when the Tacoma has 21?
Why the 2.3 when the 2.7 would work less and get better than 26mpg 2x4 which is what the F150 gets with that motor?
Why no power outlet in the bed without a bed liner?
Why no flat load floor in the second row like the F150?
Why no 60/40 bench with rotary drive shift?
Why no locking storage in the cab of the truck?
Why the tailgate doesn’t automatically lock and unlock with the doors?
Why no second auxiliary battery option to support more power charging options in the cab and in the bed?
Why no 8” wide wheels to fit beefier tire packages on factory looking wheels?
Why no real out of the box thinking like an integrated trickle charging solar panel built into the roof? Enough to keep a bed cooler going, interior cab heat/air conditioning and a laptop when the truck is off.
I love the 10 speed and that the hood has 2 lift struts... I love the lane keep assist, and the brake assist, and the advanced cruise control...

+David Pettis I'd have to crawl under the new ranger and see how far back the 10-speed transmission goes. By guess is it can have a flat load floor and Ford just didn't take the time, and just use the platform already available overseas and the molds they already have. Plus I feel that Ford thinks that if the new rangers too nice it might pull away from the F-150 sales stats. Which it would because I was going to buy an F-150 and now I'm going to get the new Ranger. I'm a roofing contractor people expect me to drive a truck. But really it's just a glorified mobile office.

for 45k FX4 lariat..it should include full sunroof, all aluminum body like the F150. My dad just bought a 2018 platinum limited F150 for 53k and it has more options then the ranger just 8k more. I was gonna trade my 2016 Colorado z71 for the ranger but now seen how it lack features ill pass..

Not to offend any loyalist but this truck already feels dated. The interior looks dated as well as it reminds me of a Ford escape. There are too many shared parts including parts of the software they are using now, modular and boring. I really hope they don't cock up the Bronco as it will share the platform of this really boring thing.

Former Ranger owner (3 of them). I been waiting for the new one for quite a long time. I just test drove the new 2019, and the results are in.......JUNK! What a disappointment, the engine is too weak and the 10 speed transmission is always shifting. The only thing I really love is the looks, very sharp looking. I would never buy this, unless the put in a new engine V6.

+Shakerhood69 I agree with you on those points but Ford is clearly using their global Ranger to get back into the North American mid sized market. All the others sell long box crew cabs so ford will be on that at a later date. As far as far as the V6 goes, I don't see an argument for it right now. I'm not a turbo fan but that Ranger outperformed the Tacoma during my seat time and I'm not talking about racing around, I'm talking real world left and right sharp turns, up and down hills, stop and go traffic. The Ranger was just better to drive and I didn't hit my head on the ceiling once.

Its also smaller and priced higher than the segment leader Tacoma,  that rear seat is disappointing as is the lack of power sliding rear window,  no sunroof option, no manual transmission, no NA V6, and no 4 door long bed.

As a guy who has tested the 2019 Tacoma, Ridgeline and Ranger, I have to say you seem to have very lofty expectations. I felt that the ranger engine pulled real hard and that's also the opinion of the automotive press. It certainly isn't lazy like the Tacoma. No one shopping in this segment is looking for big power, they are looking for fuel economy and I experienced 10.6L/100km (22.2 mpg) after one hour of mixed driving and I got into the throttle several times because the truck is quick. As far as the 10-speed transmission goes, it does shift around a lot but its almost imperceptible. It has twice the gears as most of the competition and keeps the engine in the sweet spot, I thought it was a superbly calibrated setup. The tech is not new and the back folding seat is BS but otherwise a great little package. It kinda looks like they just quickly put something together so they could get a piece of the mid sized truck pie but it still brings something significant to the table.
