Damn Australia has some pretty nice trucks. Way different than America. The vehicle I picked is a 89 4 speed full size bronco. It’s my first suv style vehicle. I think I’d rather have a truck honestly.

Awesome info! 3 more things that I’ve picked up having owned a landcruiser in Canada, where parts can be hard to get depending on which province you live in:
      1. Is this a common vehicle for your region and are parts easy to get? I had to import all my cruiser parts from the US which gets expensive.
      2. Cost of general maintenance - brake pads for the cruiser in Canada were costing 3 times as much as my friends’ 4runners.
      3. Cost of off-road parts and are off-road parts made for your vehicle - not a problem for the landcruiser but I have a friend with a dodge truck that doesn’t really have any off-road bumpers and stuff made for it, or they cost $2000, where Jeep bumpers are like $300

      Hi Ronny,
If you were buying a lower budget used 4x4 and you had to chose between a Prado and a Hillux (in the years between 2000 and 2010) what would you chose? As well as what would be the first accessory you added to it? Thanks

Recently got a 105 series 1HZ and did exactly what the video said, prior to me watching it, somewhat knew what to look for, had a buddy of mine go with me who knows what too look for, im pretty mechanical minded on petrol cars, diesel I know little about them, and had him look att everything else on it. I also seen the history on the car, it had 398k on it, only had one owner, and he seriously looked after it, did the service every 5 k, plus all filters, kept it under cover when not in use, was such a top vehicle purchase, stoked with the outcome.

the 3L patrol had issues up to the end of series 3. it was a relatively easy fix most of the time. a dawes valve would prevent it most of the time.

Not sure about Australia but in the States you must be very careful of frame rust. Especially on Toyotas. Dont be afraid to crawl underneath for atleast a good 15 minutes to check the frame and other components like ripped boots on ball joints and such. Take your time guys. I did this at a dealership in lexington kentucky. I was specifically looking for a 3rd gen 4runner as an overlanding platform. There was way more body damage than they showed in pictures. I crawled underneath and there was oil everywhere(probably valve covers, not easy to get too at all). Rust scaling everywhere. I was literally throwing chunks of rust at the salesmans feet. Lol the guy didn't know what to do. They wanted almost 4k out the door which is absurd for the condition it was in. I found one in better condition a few weeks later for about 3k with a 5spd manual(hard to find in the states) So again be careful and dont be afraid to say "hey im not buying this POS". Heaps of great info as always Ronny. Very informative channel.

Took me 8 months to find the perfect landcruiser, paid $12000 for a 95 80’s series turbo diesel with some goodies. 1HZ with 240k on the odometer with a fresh rebuild at 200k. Love it to death

every time i go trade a car in i look on carsales to see how much it's worth it would say $20.000 but when you take it in to trade it in they offer you some thing like $10.000 then il say nar that's not right on the net it says its worth this then they get there redbook page out as a lot of the time they go off that site. but you need to pay for that site if i was to use it. also some time you could have a low kms car but not in the best nick so that will take some $$$ off it. i hate car yard's they walk all over you and only want to see you in a new car because they want your $$$ cheers for the video mate keep up the good work love the cruiser :)

I'd definitely recommend https://www.ppsr.gov.au/ for vehicle checks. $3 or so and it's what all these other websites use to gather their data.
