By the way, if anybody bought the QI detector with the GPS map back several years ago, the greedy Escort squad will no longer support the unit. $700. Detector rendered almost useless. Although it still functions, (used it a lot in Virginia on 95) Data base gone.

I’m confused about something.... you can only use 2 heads with this but they have four input plugs? Can you clarify ? Thanks

Vortex Radar In reply to C Lee

I asked Escort about this and they said that while 4 heads will technically work (I tried it), it doesn't have enough power to reliably power both all 4 heads and the wireless communication box, so they recommend using only 2 heads max.

HI, I read review on your website and I've seen you tried it with 4 heads. To protect the rear with those heads may be does not have sense for this wireless product, but using third sensor up front may help for larger vehicle. Do you think if 3rd sensor used it still will have occasional  power issues ? And will 3rd sensor help with Dragon Eye defense ?

+Vortex Radar So you think even 3 heads on it will not work correctly? Did you test it?

    • Vortex Radar
Vortex Radar In reply to George Giga

It's not intended to be used with 4 heads. There isn't enough power to reliably power all 4 heads, even if it is technically possible to do, so Escort recommends using this ONLY with two heads.

I have another question about future proof of this product. In some other video you was talking about software and hardware( replacement ) updates. Do you think they will do software updating of zw5 for another few years? There is another 2 ports available on the device. Do you know if they have any plans to add more heads? For example something like third TX head, as ALP.

Vortex Radar In reply to George Giga

Escort and future-proofness don't typically go hand in hand. They do have MRCD detection and update their RD to improve the BSM filtering periodically, but updates are definitely not their strong suit.

Vortex Radar I am always in highway mode. There are virtually no x in my srea and I read that you get a little better range in hwy mode. Dont know if thats true or not. That being said, that is good to know. I didnt realize auto did that.

    • Vortex Radar
Vortex Radar In reply to Derrick McFall

Are you running in Auto mode? With that option, the detector will filter out weak signals in a effort to cut down on false alerts. Only when the signal gets stronger will it then alert you. In Highway mode it will alert at full sensitivity, even when it's detecting a weak signal.

Oh, just learn to push the button when braking that does cause rear end collisions is finished. Different situations call for different timing turning off the shifting. I LIKE the manual shifting approach. I push the button when I say so, not jam brakes in a 2 second panic in order to guarantee slow down before the “interference” stops. Is your Miata a manual? How come you do not want the “safer” automatic shifting? Or, do you like to have your shifting under your control? I do. No panic here. No confusion. And no too short forced auto 2 second turn off of the shifting.

Great ALP promotion. Like CNN repeating same old opinions claimed as critical over and over. A method of brainwashing.

Does the ZW5 shift or not? Seems like it. ALP benchmark you have recommended was $2,000+. Add in complex professional install (average person can install ZW5), can run costs to $4k. The ZW5 offers good compromise of performance and value.

Do you or any of your family, friends get $.01 compensation for any purpose from ALP? Referral links? Let’s get this straight. If you are not compensated by any method from ALP, let us know.

Go back and watch yourself through the whole video. Then tell me you are just interested in talking about what interests you. What interests me, I am not interested in watching you until you quit with your in incessant needless repeating your rants on a company you will never respect. Tell your wife you are deinstalling everything, and sending back what Escort gave you. Then tell her that you will cut a deal for a Radenso, with ALP. Or, be like a certain consumer magazine, get out HER check book and pay for the expensive Radenso, ALP integration, and wiring all over the place, and over the top cost for the ALP.

Will my post get yanked faster than the accusations against Escort Larry pulling posts?

Ok, get that Vortex. Options are a good thing. However, your critical requirement brought up many many times for auto shut off presses your view (on the video) the ZW5 is useless. Glad you show different mindset here. Manual flexibility to press one button to shut the shifting down, works for me. Better option for me. Suggest you tone down the “at a loss” “why does it have to” “whatever”. And other millennial type language. Being in the millennial crowd I get “fatigued” (ha ha) by jargon.

I also suggest that on every video, and every comment wherever you post, you also post the link o your compensation policies. That way, full disclosure for anyone new who assume you have no financial skin in the game. You are certainly free to make a income. Let people know at all times up front. Some will support you directly.

Not everyone goes for a huge install. If they want that, ALP is a better option. If they want a simple setup and a more convenient install, the ZW5 is a better option. We’re fortunate to have a variety of options.

I think you should not get paid at all by any provider. And that was my point. How much more ($) are you paid by Escort per device? Hard to believe that you get a fixed payment. You do not get paid a percentage? The ALP typically costs significant more per sale than the ZW5.

    • Vortex Radar
Vortex Radar In reply to John Ross

I do make a commission when people buy the ALP, but the exact same thing is true with the ZW5. In fact I make more when people buy a ZW5 than I do an ALP since Escort gives me a higher percentage for affiliate sales. Thanks for asking though. At the end of the day, I'm losing money by recommending people go out and buy an ALP over an Escort. Probably not what you expected though, right? Should I start recommending Escort instead of AntiLaser so I can pad my wallet more? I can see that you think disagree with that thinking too so I'm glad we're on the same page in that regard.

There's pros and cons to every system and I'm here to share my experiences with what they are so people can make an educated decision. The ALP is the benchmark for a reason and it has earned its position. It is the jammer that all others are compared to and so that's why I'm constantly comparing it with everything else.

If Escort or Stinger or K40 made the best jammer, that'd be the one I'd compare it to. Simple.

“Now you’ll be a little less pissed at us when you have to uninstall it because it’s lacking critical functionality.”

*on a little yellow card in future boxes*
WE LISTEN TO OUR CUSTOMERS! That should be clear by the existence of this card, even if it doesn’t say what you wanted.
We heard your complaints about the work and cost it took you to uninstall our units after you got fed up w/the lack of basic functionality and basic documentation/instructions etc. and we immediately went to work, sparing no expense, to make sure it was easier to remove, and since we have no auto JTK, we removed all mention of killing the jamming function. Please stop complaining now we are so tired there’s just 3 of us & we miss the old days when cell phones never got a single update after you bought them, much less radar detectors. Be happy with what you have and buy what you don’t have from us again next.year. Jk but seriously give us a break now pls. Thanks again for giving us money.

This must be a record for getting pulled over and searched. I wonder how many other people have accidentally JTG... Thankfully the LEO was able to pin it on something else, but depending on where this happened it could have been a whole lot worse... This is absolutely irrisponsible of Escort. JTK is the most important part of laser defense. Hopefully they realize this; but I doubt anything will happen. Thanks for the review, Vortex. Top notch as always good sir!

No Auto JTK? absolutely unacceptable! Based on this, I would Not buy the system as it exists and risk having an $800+ system taken by the cops. Worst yet this could have negative implications through the whole laser community. Very very odd... big question is can this be added via a FW update? Will be very curious to see this part of your upcoming interview with them..

In my opinion I love escort but I believe after the company got bought out by that bigger brand, things have been going downhill.

The moment a corporation gets their hands on a smaller company it's all about bean counters and profits.

Kinda like dealer vs a rep. Independent repair shop.
