Both cars extremely beautiful down in Concorso d'Eleganza, Mazda RX Vision and 2016 Pininfarina H2 Speed

RX-VISION represents a vision of the future that Mazda hopes to one day make into reality; a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car with exquisite, KODO design-based proportions only Mazda could envision, and powered by the next-generation SKYACTIV-R rotary engine.

Rotary engines feature a unique construction, generating power through the rotational motion of a triangular rotor. Overcoming numerous technical difficulties, Mazda succeeded in commercializing the rotary engine, fitting it in the Cosmo Sport (known as Mazda 110S overseas) in 1967. As the only automaker to mass-produce the rotary engine, Mazda continued efforts to improve power output, fuel economy and durability, and in 1991 took overall victory at 24 Hours of Le Mans with a rotary engine-powered race car. Over the years, the rotary engine has come to symbolize Mazda's creativity and tireless endeavor in the face of difficult challenges.

While mass production is currently on hold, Mazda has never stopped research and development efforts towards the rotary engine. The next rotary engine has been named SKYACTIV-R, expressing the company's determination to take on challenges with convention-defying aspirations and the latest technology, just as it did when developing SKAYCTIV TECHNOLOGY.

H2 Sport racecar concept, which uses a hydrogen fuel cell to offer drivers quick lap times and only water vapor for emissions.

The design certainly looks ready to start turning laps. The company keeps the whole shape smooth and simple. Like many modern prototype racers, a fin runs down the rear to connect the roof to the wing. The fairings around the hydrogen tanks also help keep weight down.

Underneath the svelte body, the hydrogen tech comes from GreenGT, which is well known for its expertise in environmentally friendly performance vehicles. The coupe packs two electric motors with a combined output of 496 horsepower that directly power the rear wheels, with no transmission to get in the way. Two tanks hold 13.4 pounds of hydrogen, and the racer weighs a total of 3,131 pounds.

The H2 Speed can reach 62 miles per hour in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

H2 Speed will appeal to passionate people who love speed, performance and innovation and, at the same time, are attracted by the exclusivity typical of a Pininfarina-designed vehicle produced in a limited series. Halfway between a racing prototype and a production supercar, the H2 Speed is the world's first hydrogen, high performance car. It is not by coincidence that its name joins together H2, the formula for gaseous hydrogen, and the English word Speed, as if to say that it is the force and energy of Nature that generate the vehicle's high performance, fostering the excitement that is typical of passion and sport.

Seduced by GreenGT technology, Pininfarina has applied its mastery to express a style that communicates uncompromising beauty and a unique allure, combined with extreme performance. A pure beautiful form, free of any stylistic affectation.

Sculpted by efficiency-boosting aerodynamics, the H2 Speed weds blistering performance to refined lines and shapes integrated in a form of strong emotional impact which embraces the driver and represents the best possible expression of Pininfarina DNA: purity, elegance, innovation expressed through the passion that has always pervaded the world of high performance cars.

The Madza concept looks HOT though it does remind me of the Aston Martin Vulcan, but wondering how the hell do you get inside, can't see a door handle anywhere...
