I review the all-new 2019 BMW X5 in its xDrive40i trim with the straight-six engine. The fresh interior design, loads of tech and pleasant driving dynamics make for a solid package, but is it enough to overcome the also-new Mercedes GLE? Thanks to BMW for providing this vehicle to me and all the other members of the Automotive Video Association for our second-annual spring event.

It really does have an attractive rear end. I agree with you. It has a great rear end, and gives massages. Sounds a lot like my girl friend. Great demo video thank you.

I love it I just purchased a 2019 BMW X5, 5 days ago it is a great SUV it’s drive very nice, I see a lot of people head turn when I drive by, I am so glad I bought it but it is expensive vehicle but I don’t care about that because you only live once. My opinion there is no other better car out here in the range of a mid size luxury van, no one cannot beat the BMW world class cars.

If BMW has a fault, it's that the technology is very clever but their staff are not particularly well trained in how to use it! I have a 3.0d x-line arriving in July and it does concern me that I will find it frustratingly difficult to learn.

I tried it briefly, and aside from more aggressive transmission behavior, I didn’t notice much difference.

I work at BMW and I’ve sold the new X5 to people who are 65+ and they’ve never had a single issue navigating the iDrive system.. nor has anyone I’ve met.

I know 25 year olds that have the same issues. It's not strictly about age, but also aptitude.

$60K+ worth of unreliability, tons of plastic components and high depreciation. Only a sucker would buy or lease this trash. I'm ready for BMW fanboys to attack me for speaking the truth.

@wasabi9111 If you gotta get a BMW, try to get one that's built in Germany and not in America. The German built BMWs are better built and more reliable.

@wasabi9111 Keep driving it. A 10 year old Lexus still has many years of solid reliability left. Why give it up when you don't have to, especially for something else that's known for being unreliable and can cause you lots of headaches? Buying a BMW is a huge risk. Don't take that risk if you don't have to.

@zarbon700 I love our 2010 RX. It literally just requires basic maintenance and minimal upgrade and it has been perfectly reliable. That's why it's so hard to give it up.

      zarbon700 In reply to zarbon700

@wasabi9111 If handling is more important than reliability, then get the X5. Just lease and dump the X5. Owning a BMW after the warranty expires is very risky and costly.

I’m actually thinking of replacing my bullet proof, reliable 2010 rx350 w a 2020 X5. I’ve test drove the current RX and 2019 x5 back to back many times, and I haven’t been impressed w the new RX. It’s really not that much of upgrade to my 2010. I love the way the new x5 drives. But I’m concerned w the x5 reliability. I think I might risk it w the x5, even w the air suspension.
