2019 MITSUBISHI ASX Test Drive, Interior & Exterior Design
Where other carmakers play up their premium aspirations, Mitsubishi has done the opposite, adding new base level trims to the ASX as part of a model year 2019 refresh.
With ASX positioned as the top-seller in the small SUV segment, Mitsubishi has attempted to amp up value as a means of sustaining volume.
With a starting price of $23,490 plus on road costs, the ASX ES has been positioned to fill the gap left by the departing Lancer small hatch and sedan.
In its most basic form the 2019 ASX still includes a five-speed manual transmission, 18-inch alloy wheels in a new painted silver finish, cruise control, LED daytime running lights, manually adjusted front seat, cloth trim, and Smartphone Link Display Audio which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, DAB+ digital radio, Bluetooth and four-speaker audio. An optional CVT automatic is priced from $25,490 plus on road costs, and allows buyers to option Mitsubishi’s $1500 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which adds lane departure warning, blind spot warning with lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, rear park sensors, dusk sensing headlights with auto high beam, rain sensing wipers and forward collision mitigation – Mitsubishi’s term for forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking.
That’s on top of standard features like traction and stability control, seven airbags, reverse camera, two ISOFIX and three top tether child seat mounts, and electronic brakeforce distribution.
Higher up the range the ASX LS remains, although the manual option has been deleted leaving the auto-only variant priced from $27,990 plus on road costs. Over the ES, the LS adds microsuede and leatherette seat trim, two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, additional chrome highlights, front fog lamps, climate control, privacy glass and proximity key with push-button start.
On the safety front the ASX LS lays claim to standard forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, auto lights and wipers, and reverse park sensors.
At the top of the range the previous XLS model has been renamed Exceed to line it up with other members of the Mitsubishi range. Pricing starts from $30,990 plus on road costs.
Exceed upgrades include a powered driver’s seat, front seat heating, leather seat trim, panoramic roof, LED ambient lighting, chrome exhaust tip, six-speaker audio, blind spot warning with lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert.

Seguro, confortável, estável,tem o melhor torque dos SUVs c/ motor flex, vem c/ 7 airbags em todas as séries, porta malas cabe 3 malas gdes, revisão dos 30.000 Km paguei R$ 800,00, faço em média 8/9 km/l na cidade de Florianópolis (o pior trânsito do país) e 12/13 km na estrada c/ velocidade média de 100 km/h. Seguro total c/ franquia baixa e mais um condutor eventual de 24 anos, foi de R$ 2.900,00. Recomendo.
