Excellent review. I test drove one today and was surprised at the acceleration. The torque probably has a lot to do with that.

No spare tire = NO Deal. No, it's not about weight (heavier runflats!, sealant, compressor or other junk). It is cutting corners. You can get 2 sets of better normal tires for the same money than those runflats that still won't save you if the sidewall gets damaged or you're more than 50 miles from a dealer. The sealant voids the tire warranty. Even if the tire could have been fixed. Now you to have to buy a new tire or 2 (same w/ driving on a runflat and those are harder to find in stock). You can call someone and wait for hours by the road or in traffic or at night in the middle of nowhere. Risk that your car gets scratched up on a tow truck.. and one can avoid all of that w/ a spare. Don't even care about the $, leave room for it.

too much unnecessary complications on digital panels and some childish, cheap lighting in the interior! why on earth one should do click after click to see data such as fuel remaining, fuel consumed, weather temperature and so on! all these data could be arranged on one page instead of those meaningless animations of a car and a petrol pump etc!

As consumers we should appreciate what those asian brands bringing on the table with their all in one packaged portfolio at super efficient price point; pushing premium brands such as Mercedes to leave their comfort zone and work harder to compete.
We as the consumers are to benefit from this and this is the product of strong competition created.

The worst thing about the new Mercedes A Class sold in the US is that it's built in Mexico. Who new Mercedes became a Mexican brand. I thought the new C class is bad after they move production to the US. Like the saying goes you get what you paid for.

"The M282 was developed with Renault as part of Daimler's collaboration with the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance.[2] The M282 shares the same design with the Renault H5Ht engine, with a DOHC and direct injection. The M282 is also the first Mercedes inline-four engine to feature cylinder deactivation (on the second and third cylinders), as well as an engine particulate filter.[3] It is produced by MDC Power GmbH at the Kölleda plant in Thuringia, Germany.[4]" Source: Wikipedia.

It’s worth noting that Americans have intersections, but the UK and maybe Europe is plagued by things called ‘roundabouts’. The augmented navigation will be more useful here.

Don’t ever try to use a TomTom to get you through Birmingham.

We have roundabouts in the USA. It's just that we call them traffic circles.

Nice looking car. As a former C300 owner, as of last month I can attest that for that model at least the build quality was great. The CLA250 not so much. The biggest problem with Mercedes, Audi and BMW for that matter is that they option you to death and what starts out as a moderately priced entry level luxuary sedan at 32,000 to 35,000 soon balloons up to almost 50,000 or more with options and I don't mean the most extravagant ones. If you lease with turn-in fine but if you purchase you'll soon find yourself underwater in a few years with your loan balance on the car and the trade-in value. Of course there is also the maintenance service which is pricey. That being said if you can afford it go for the C300 series. It doesn't have the appealing futuristic interior look of the A-Class but it is a great car.
