Wow that was sudden ... BMW wins ... but why? It wasn't that much praised by the journalist and yet it got awarded! Looks like a rushed comparison to me.

What BMW has over others is front lights if u mean why it's winner. If u like a car that's from 2016, it's volvo, others are still stuck in 2005 🤗 true story

I test drove the Volvo XC60-R 3.2 turbo, BMW 28i and 35i, and the Audi Q5 3.2L. All of them are great cars, and you can't go wrong with any of them. The XC60 has the most safety features and has the easiest MMI to learn; however, the both the transmission is sluggish and the steering is sloppy. Not a driver's car. The BMW has great handling the MMI is very good, and the 35i has some serious acceleration that I wanted. The Audi and the BMW 28i engines are about the same, but the Audi steering is not as direct as the BMW, but is still sporty. The Audi MMI is not menu driven and takes a PhD to learn. I'd put the BMW 35i at the top and BMW 28i just barely above the Audi. At the end of the day, I went with the Audi 3.2L because I got it for $4K less than the BMW 28i. I have 75K mi on it now and have only replaced the battery and CV boots. That's it.

Why test the XC60 in the lowest trim level? Only fwd and no xenon. Go for a R-Design next time.

+ProCelestialEmpire Lexus interior have always in the past been nicer than the exteriors. The newest interiors are disappointing. No wood anywhere. The metal probably isn't real. they drive like shit.

+John Doe I test drove the Lexus nx300h, which drives like a 25k camery. All interior is plastically trimmed and especially the nagivation, they use a mundane pad to control. In comparison, the volvo xc60's interior is so tactile.

Really bmw is a winner coz of what??  its not safe like Volvo its  more expensive than others, interior look so boring and ugly its like on someones funeral or something, and it has a lot of issues on engine and staff like that, i will def. go with Volvo or maybe Audi.

@Nineq 96 in my opinion the volvo is the most ugliest car, plus it is not a premium brand. seats are not giving you support, and a mediocre gearbox. The audi offers no rear view camera, no satnav and the fuelconsumption is high. the lexus would be my choice. 2nd BMW.

Nice review but why was Range Rover Evoque or LR Freelander 2 not included in the review? I think off the lot they would possibly be the most capable luxury off roaders and around the same price point.

You should have tested the Volvo with the sport leather seats, they're as good as they come. Why test the base version and skew the results. Go D5 with sport interior and call it a day! Btw, the lex is a fugly plastic junk toy (Toyota)..and how far's that reach to the gear lever? Why they still think Darth Vader's face looks good on a front grill? Well Bimmers mean crap interior and way over priced for the kit you get. A few days in the shop per month sucks also. The Audi is dated, doesn't have much cargo room, and being an old Audi guy here and having driven one of these for a week (dealer loaner), there's mega wind noise from the exterior window pillars above 50 kph. Nerve racking howling...WTH?! Anyway, wish we could get the Volvo D5 version here in the States. Cheers!

Pete Jr In reply to Pete Jr

Oh I love the Jaguars!  How can you not, gorgeous and sound awesome?  I would have considered them if they had the new wagons and SUV's available.  They'd have to re-assure me about the reliability and interior quality of the new designs, but aside from that (and competitive pricing), we would be interested.  We'll see what's out there in 4 to 5 years.  I will also be interested in Mercedes as they have up'd their game with the new releases, including engine selections, though you do lose the exclusivity factor.
