Read the What Car? BMW 5 Series review

The BMW 5 Series strikes just the right balance between comfort, refinement and dynamic excellence. The interior is plush and feels suitably expensive.

If you don't add the right options, the Five is very disappointing to drive. Those options aren't cheap, either.

A very biased review, clearly. A6 and XF blow this out of the water. The F10 has been criticized for its steering and interior, both of which Whatcar praises. The A6 provides more room, a better quality interior, and is slightly more fun to drive. The XF has incredible charm, fantastic steering and handling, and my God it looks amazing. Time to step up your game, BMW; you're no longer #1, not even close.

Mate I’ve spent the last 2 weeks looking at the 5 series, AUDI A4/5/6, Mercedes and Jag’s and the 5 series interior is simply head and shoulders above the completion

Just bought the 535i 2013 a week ago, and it is just Brilliant, I have looked at loads of reviews on the new 5 series and they dont give it justice really!!

Its comfortable, fast, the gears change smoothly, it's full of gadgets, I just love the head up display!

rent all three "BMW, Mercedes, Audi" as I did and just pick the one that you feel is best for you!

You guys know nothing! Feel free to say other BMW's aren't good, but the 3 series and 5 series have always been the best in class, and everyone knows it!

I dont know why its rated so highly. It looks shit inside and out. Mercedes and Audi worried? I dont think so.

The new 5 series was ranked "well below average" in Consumer Reports' reliability study and BMW as a whole regularly ranks below average in JD Power's reliability surveys.
