Director of Testing Dan Edmunds, Staff Writer Travis Langness and Special Correspondent Elana Scherr put America's top-selling vehicles through the ringer. We test the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 at the track, break down the differences between the interiors and even load an ATV into each truck's bed. We drove them in the city, drove them on the highway, towed a big Airstream trailer, and spent hundreds of miles behind the wheel of all three trucks to see which one comes out on top. Will the top-rated Ram 1500, the best-selling Ford F-150, or will the all-new Chevy Silverado be the new champ?

Q: What's under the hood?
A: The Ram 1500 we used for this test has a 5.7-liter V8 (395 horsepower, 410 lb-ft of torque). The F-150 we tested had Ford's 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 (375 hp, 470 lb-ft). The Chevy Silverado in our test came with the 5.3-liter V8 (355 hp, 383 lb-ft).

Q: Which truck is the quickest to 60 mph?
A: Of the three trucks we tested, the Ford F-150 was the quickest. It did the 0-60 mph sprint in just 6.2 seconds. The Ram 1500 was second with a time of 6.5 seconds, while the Silverado came in at 7.0 seconds. Notably, the Silverado was equipped with the 5.3-liter V8 rather than the range-topping 6.2-liter engine. In previous tests, a last-gen Silverado with the 6.2-liter was capable of hitting 60 mph in 6.4 seconds.

Q: Which one is the best truck? The Silverado, the Ram or the F-150?
A: In our test, we found that the Ram edged out the F-150 and the Silverado in almost every category. The interior quality, powertrain and comfort were all excellent. The Silverado and the F-150 still have a lot going for them, but if it were our money, we'd pick the Ram.

my son went from a f150 to a 2017 ram 2 years ago, mind you he got it new with 2 miles on it,,it's now march 20th and it's already rusting around the fenders,we live in northern new York, and he had to pull the fuse for traction control he kept getting stuck in his driveway on 2 inches of snow, kept trying to cut off engine and locking brakes, pull fuse now he can spin the tires to dig out better,2 years in and he's going back to f150,,now this kid well 27 now but he likes all brands but like he said ford cost more but least your getting what you pay for !!

Who cares what it does at the race track ... the Ford's suck on MPG 17 or 18 mpg is crap ( before you tiss me . I HAVE a FORD also a 19 year old Chev with a 5.3 that gets an honest 22 to 23 mpg on the highway and no cylinder deactivation . Now before you yell about that I have an International highway tractor and it gets 10.5 mpg empty and maybe 4 6 or 8 loaded . The Ram I can't say much , I did rent one for a weekend to use like a car and it got better mpg's than my Ford sitting in my driveway . In a foot note we had a 1975 Ford when the F 150 really meant something to do with load hauling with a 360 V-8 and then a 1984 Ford F 150 with the built proof 300 straight 6 and it got better mpg,s then What happened ? Other than that I liked the review .

You can clearly tell non of these people own pick up trucks. Nor do they have there facts straight. Ram came out with the 8 speed trans for 2013 models and up. Not 14. Ford and Chevy are bitting off of ram with there 8 and 10 speed trans, Just like the Eco diesel ram came out with in 13 now Chevy and Ford both have a 3 liter diesel in the 1500's. I mean I can keep going. I am a Chevy man at heart. It runs in my blood with my grandmother retiring from the truck and bus plant. But Chevy has been so far behind it's crazy. And there new design is just butt ass ugly. Ive even owned a few Ford's and my last Ford was a FX4 Lariat F 150. It was a decent truck. But I have now owned 2 Rams and working on my 3rd and will absolutely never buy another brand truck again. Period.

The Ford being older while doing comparison is telling me you have to go back that far to get a good one...so the new ones can't hold their own against these new ones? Why not get one the same year!!!

I love how much people are crying how the ram was the best truck of course it’s better then the 5 year old ford. Then There’s Chevy where they only updated their looks and nothing else. Ram choose to update everything besides their power train which apparently was a good idea.

I'm still buying a Ford, can't go wrong. I like dodge too, but due to the problems I've had with three dodges I'll go with Ford. GMC ( General Motors China ) is selling out to China, so- - - NO Chevy ever again!!

I hate to be that guy but the test wasn’t quite fair they used totally different class trucks. The Chevy was a workman the ram was an middle ground and the ford was not comparable at all with the v6. They should have done a best in class test and a basemodel test. The Chevy has that awesome new trailering option for towing so it would easily win that section and with the 6.2 it would be at least 2nd for power and would also come with different gearing for the towing. It sucks that they got paid off by someone to do a review. Thought they were reputable

So many salty Chevy and Ford fans. Pathetic. I'm a Ram guy, and I respected the trucks that were better than the Ram in the past. Now, there's a new king.
But don't worry Ford fans, a new F-150 will come out soon. As in, next year.

+Dark Coven how are the Ford and Chevy better than the Dodge? You clearly stated your opinion, without any evidence to back it up. Also, 10k more expensive? Seriously? They are all roughly the same price.
If you want something more expensive, get a Tundra or Titan, those have more expensive starting prices.

All 3 are Great trucks, no one is Salty here, It's very clear though that the Ram was their pick from the start, and as far as I'm Concerned being a Ford Guy myself I think the Ford and Chevy are better than the Dodge, not to mention it's 10k More in Price..

With a 6.5' box you need blocks under the quads front tires. Thats the trick to fitting it in the back. For me 3 2x6's stacked work. I can fit 2 Crf250l's in the box of my F150's 6.5' box, used to fit my TRX500 foreman rubicon in there too, with the tailgate closed and locked.

+Thatgood Nutt the V6 Ecoboost is more capable than the 5.0, and it's a more expensive option. That's why they used it. The Coyote is nice, but it's less capable than Ram's Hemi V8. And the Silverado, well, the 5.3 is the best option for that mid range trim level.

+Dark Coven how? Why would it be so? It's clear that you're salty because the Ram won. Otherwise, you would accept the facts like a man, and stop complaining that the video is biased.
Even Motor Trend named the new Ram 1500 their 2019 truck of the year, which is a huge achievement, considering the fact that both Chevy and GMC released new trucks last year as well. But those were underwhelming.

The dodge in this video is priced almost 10k above the other two. If you can’t tell this is a biased video you’re retarded. Not salty just know the facts. Don’t be a democratic look at the real facts.
