911Rs are currently trading for Carrera GT money so we felt we had to bring both cars together and delve deeper into the debate with the help of Carl Hartley and a lucky owner of a 911R. Which one will be worth more in 20 years - please comment below!

I must add - there’s more to the rawness of the Carrera GT than its whacky manual. The lack of stability and traction control... scary

I don’t see any case for the 911R. Not in sex appeal, not in driving experience, and sadly, not in value appreciation. I just hope the Carrera GT is still under a million dollars in a decade, so that I can buy one

One for future for sure, but we shot this at the time 911R's were going for the same money as a CGT so we thought it was a good topic of conversation :)

Ah, let me see. One is made of carbon fiber, has a Formula 1 10 cylinder engine and is one series only, no more. The other is steel and aluminium, a 6 cylinder engine and has been serialized over many decades. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The value of one today is in the millions and the other over a hundred thousand. Such a dumb question. CGT is best! It's a certified 100% WIDOW MAKER!

Much rather have a gt3 rs over the 911r, I don’t think its a great looking car without the aero bits of the rs, and who wouldn’t have a cgt over the 911r?

Who’d pay 600k for a 911r when a gt3 rs is essentially the same car but with a pdk box so therefore it’s probably faster

Hi, guys...it would be interesting to know, if Mr. Porsche would visit you and introducing himself: "Hello, I am Wolfgang Porsche...", would you continue to call him "Porsch"...?? What kind of car-"fanatic" cannot even pronounce the name of the company properly..??

I seen a silver porsche 911 R in Harrogate about 6 months ago for sale for £419.995. They also had a maclaren 675 LT in white and a aventador SV in blue. They also had Ferraris and near enough every other sports car you could think of. I think its called GC motors 😎. Worth a look if you have the money to spend 😆

Come on! There could possibly no other car more desirable than the CGT. The 911 R is just a overpriced 911 to me.

the carrera gt sound is a replica sound of the Mazda rx767 & 787b,it's a hell of a precision tool for the track

GT3 drives itself? What the........! Have u actually driven a 991 GT3 flat out on a circuit? when the 991 GT3 came out, It won EVO car of the year 2013, autocar best drivers car 2013 and car magazine sports car giant test 2013. And that's because of the hardcore, uncompromising and pure track-focused driving experience the GT3 provides, as it's all about the driving. Yh, my ass the GT3 'drives by itself' when it was clearly designed as a hardcore track machine where the driver has to concentrate at max to extract every last bit of performance potential out of it on a circuit.

TheSUPERCARDRIVER In reply to Shaihan Rasheed

I think it was more of a tongue in cheek comment which has certainly caused some controversy on here. Compared to the CGT the GT3 drives itself, by the way it's PDK only - not physically driving the car on the limit but we do see how it comes across that way... thanks anyway for watching !

The 911R is brilliant, and desirable, but.....you could still buy other manual 911s (a 991 GTS, or one of the 997 or 996 generation models) and have a similar driving experience if you really wanted a manual naturally aspirated 911.
The Carrera GT, on the other hand, is utterly unique. Basically a Le Mans car for the road with a 600 hp mid-mounted V10 that revs to 8400 rpm. It is arguably the greatest analogue supercar ever made, along with the Ferrari F40 and the McLaren F1.
