On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Chicago on 7-9-16.

We're looking at a RARE 1960 Edsel Ranger Convertible in Factory Buttercup Yellow Paint.

The car's Owner is Buz. Buz has his 1959 Edsel Corsair Convertible at a car show and a Gentleman in a discussion, Buz mentioned in passing his dream would be to get a 1960 Edsel Convertible and the Gentleman says, “I have a 1960 Edsel Convertible for sale” (WHAT!!! – THAT IS DIVINE INTERVENTION). There were ONLY 76 Edsel Ranger Convertibles made in 1960.

Then we go for a ride.

I hope you do, however it’s highly likely you will not see this car other than in this video again.

ENJOY!

its a ford with trim no big deal , wait 292 with the bad oil to the rockers , not even a 312 to haul that whale around ..last year of the use up all the old parts .. as 1961 had all new motors , big block 390's .. I had a ford 1961 , conv. 3 speed on tree , big load of shit ..in 1962 they went to 406 with 4 speed and real springs and shocks and brakes ... other then few made is because few sold .. so stopped in 1/2 year .. old parts used up .. same car with ford name way cheaper

WOW, beautiful Edsel, and a really great Interview Lou! The 1960 Edsel was indeed a super RARE car! btw, you probably have to adjust the Neutral Safety Switch, or just replace it for the Back up lights to come on! Very Simple.... common problem with Ford.....

Name a car after your son and it instantly becomes a laughing stock for it's lemon-like reliability. Sad, because the stigma of the first cars destroyed the legacy of a great car.

I had a '60 Edsel 2 dr post years ago.....(wish it was a htp, but the sedan worked fine).
The first time I ever saw one (near Spokane WA in 1964) I thought it was a customized '61 Ford until the owner told me different.
I'm guessing that this Edsel owner also owned the '64 Buick convert and the white Chrysler convertible parked nearby??

A blue 1960 four door Edsel sedan was always parked on the street my grandmother lived on in the 1960s. However, I didn't realize that it was an Edsel. I thought it was some sort of customized Ford Fairlane or Galaxie. The car didn't arouse my curiosity much because the owner never washed it or otherwise took care of it. Only after the car was no longer parked on that street did I find out that it was an Edsel. If only I would have been more curious, I would have bought it.

I remember a blue sedan that I always thought was a Ford but later learned it was a 60 Edsel. It had the fender ornaments.
