UPDATE: All, I need to apologise about the mention of 550Nm of torque in the video...I was clearly channeling some sort of wishful thinking. We all know it's only 500Nm.

The Ford Ranger Raptor has monster truck looks and is easily the most capable 4x4 dual-cab you can buy...but what do we think about the engine?

The reality is, the technology behind those suspension drives the price up much. Those shocks are mind blowing when I found how much it costs.

Love the Raptor but it’s quite pricey
I’ve seen a XLT with Raptor grill today in Melbourne and it Looked quite cool
XLT 3.2 with Raptor grill would be a great idea IMAO

      It’s a 1% vehicle -
      1% get it
      1% would actually use it
1% couldn’t give a toss about towing their 3 tonne shitter behind them
1% see more to life than whining

The other 99% can be served by Great Walls, normal Ranger, Amarok etc - vehicles that are not niche off-road vehicles. The choice is endless, don’t like it - don’t buy it.

Perhaps Isaac you should thank Ford as this vehicle is a game changer. Irrespective of the size of this engine (fine by me), we finally have a niche off-road vehicle that doesn’t run leaf springs designed to haul 3 tonnes toilets and carry big loads. Allefuckingllullia

They could have updated and refined the current Duratorq 2.2, slapped those twin turbos on it and dropped it under the hood of this truck.

I contacted Ford Italy to buy it... but I stopped what does not convince me is the part-time transmission and the less the engine I would have preferred a 2500 or a 3000cc. I would have preferred also the possibility to choose less extreme tires...

why on earth would you want awd??? do you know trophy trucks are rwd? thats part of the reason they are immensely fun to drive. also why in the f150 raptor you could lock the rear diff in rwd in baja mode.

I so disagree with you about a few things. As a owner of a Raptor their is nothing wrong with the 10 speed box, it's perfect and works well with the engine. As for your statement that is slow down low, garbage, it has enough, your not going to the drag strip with it. You compare its power to the Amarock and Mercedes, who cares that they are quicker, you cant use the speed in Australia anyhow. As for the tyre grip in the wet, are you serious? I had a Ranger XLS before the Raptor, it had the factory Dunlop tyre, now that tyre was dangerous and lacked grip. The Raptors tyres in the wet are very acceptable. You say its noisy, really? are you serious? It is that quiet in the cabin I struggle to stay awake.
The opinions above are mine, based on owning a Raptor, based on 25 years of motor sport racing experience in open wheelers and tin tops and based on 33 years driving on the road and owning more than 20 vehicles, performance and non performance.
