UPDATE: All, I need to apologise about the mention of 550Nm of torque in the video...I was clearly channeling some sort of wishful thinking. We all know it's only 500Nm.

The Ford Ranger Raptor has monster truck looks and is easily the most capable 4x4 dual-cab you can buy...but what do we think about the engine?

I took one for a test drive. The most comfortable seats I have ever sat in, very nice to drive, You feel very proud behind the wheel. I thought the driveline was great, who wants to go around dragging people off the start anyways. It’s not a boy racer toy. I love it. And I would purchase one no worries at all. You can pick them up second hand with very low km,s for around 65k which is 4K dearer than a new Ranger wildtrack. Both great vehicles.

There is no replacement for displacement!
2.0L for this sized vehicle is the dumbest auto engineering move ever in the history of car manufacturing, and for the price their dreaming!
Imagine how many more trucks they would have sold if it had a decent engine option....so dumb

This guy is testing stuff which is not applicable at all on this vehicle.... to this vehicle at least. This Raptor is NOT about speed dude...this is faster than the Toyota 2.8 and most of its rivals...how can you compare this now to a V6? This is NOT about performance...this is an off-road vehicle(mainly)... If you want to speed..please go and do a review on a GTi(or some thing else) my friend...not a great review at all... in fact I think you are a bit stupid....

so its a ranger with upgraded suspension & a shit engine... what is it about car companies that think we Australians want piss ant little cars?
If your going to sell anything called Raptor in Australia then sell the U.S. made Raptor, not a ranger with 10k worth of suspension for extra 25k on top, lame

The reality is, the technology behind those suspension drives the price up much. Those shocks are mind blowing when I found how much it costs.

Love the Raptor but it’s quite pricey
I’ve seen a XLT with Raptor grill today in Melbourne and it Looked quite cool
XLT 3.2 with Raptor grill would be a great idea IMAO

XLT with raptor grill sounds like a pig in a dress.. Raptor is a freakn awesome car to drive on and off road. I don't feel the sluggishness this guy suggests at low speed for the past 5months i have had one, maybe he didn't keep it in Sports or Baja mode for his testing.

      It’s a 1% vehicle -
      1% get it
      1% would actually use it
1% couldn’t give a toss about towing their 3 tonne shitter behind them
1% see more to life than whining

The other 99% can be served by Great Walls, normal Ranger, Amarok etc - vehicles that are not niche off-road vehicles. The choice is endless, don’t like it - don’t buy it.

Perhaps Isaac you should thank Ford as this vehicle is a game changer. Irrespective of the size of this engine (fine by me), we finally have a niche off-road vehicle that doesn’t run leaf springs designed to haul 3 tonnes toilets and carry big loads. Allefuckingllullia

They could have updated and refined the current Duratorq 2.2, slapped those twin turbos on it and dropped it under the hood of this truck.

I contacted Ford Italy to buy it... but I stopped what does not convince me is the part-time transmission and the less the engine I would have preferred a 2500 or a 3000cc. I would have preferred also the possibility to choose less extreme tires...
