Do you buy a New 2019 Subaru WRX Raiu Edition? Or do you buy a really, REALLY used one? This is the question we hope to answer today, when we spend some time in our own 2006 WRX and compare it to the special edition WRX Raiu! HUGE THANKS to RegularCars for making the trek to Canada. And thanks to Keithwrx for allowing us use of his Raiu! Follow him on Instagram for more Raiu goodness.

For those of you debating: Yes, we really did buy this WRX in Ontario for $5,000. It was a screamin deal, and we jumped on it very fast when it popped up. In fact we had people calling us the evening we bought it to offer to buy it off of us for more than we paid. Is it rare to find one for this much? Yes. Is it possible? Yes. Don't forget that after we bought it we needed to work on it to get it road legal. Needed a CV Axle, a handbrake rebuild, a new airbag etc. (Also the alternator is going and the other CV axle is pooched), But either way it was an amazing deal, and it's possible to find them this cheap. In fact there is another video on this channel from a while ago with an unmodified Bugeye WRX that was purchased for $6,000. So keep your eyes open! Happy hunting and thanks for watching!

+André Jeanpierre 90% sure they never made an 02-03 wagon STi (the Bugeye ) could be wrong. But in America nearest thing would be the WRX wagon/hatchback. Then upgrading it if desired.

Wow good find I bought a clean, stock, 1 owner and all records since 02 CLEAN interior. Metallic Silver Wagon WRX (Bugeye) 2 years ago. For $5000 got him to drop price a bit. 💙

I've owned a 2002 WRX sedan and I currently have an 02 wagon. It's a great car, fun-to-drive when I put my foot down but it's just really a pain in the ass to drive in slow traffic. I'm currently torn between keeping it just because I know that in a year I'll want it back, or selling it and getting a newer hatch has a better daily

Come to America and you can find billions of non rusted old wrx’s, but they’re like $15k a piece and it’s ridiculous.

Yeah....I paid 10k for my 06 WRX....I love how y’all act like it’s a crappy car when it has a 10k$ plus resale value at 80k and above miles..... they don’t understand what they have lol.

you guys are nuts! I had a 06 wrx and it was the best car that Ive owned to this day. My 09 wrx was a little faster but that 06 was so light and snappy coupled with limited slip diffs it made for an awesome car to drive side ways in the rain!

Riu is really nice but everytime I've seen one I've never understood what went through the designers brains to put a wind defuser on the back roof. Why? Its pointless and looks even dumber if you know about cars and parts. To someone normal it just looks "cool" but to someone that knows what it is, becomes an eye sore.(or it could be my ocd. It drive me nuts, i would rip it off.)

Nostalgia... But they didnt say much about how flat the new wrx handles. it has less body roll than a brz. And you can feel the back end responding when you turn. Its better than the understeer on the old cars. You could through bilsteins and RCE springs on the '06 and it still wouldnt feel as nice as the new one.

meh. the real comparison is the bugeye, especially one swapped to fxt or ss 4.44 drivetrain. it's the same model that the spec-c and s202 are based on, both of which shit all over the the latest boss hogg sti. however, it's also quite hard to get a bugeye that hasn't been ruined by some flat brimmer.

I'm an STI guy, (so ignore my EJ comment) but to set the record straight that new wrx is drastically different. The FA20 engine and brand new tranny is SOOOOO much better than the old EJ and tranny made of glass.

The short shifter is not from an STI. It’s a short shifter with STI branding for the new WRX. That short shifter doesn’t fit the STi

Thank you for mentioning the sway bar. I was waiting for a reviewer to mention that. Did it to my 2002 wrx and it made it so much better.
