Newly redesigned for the 2019 model year are 2 compact luxury SUVs: the Acura RDX and the Infiniti QX50. The Acura RDX features a brand new platform, turbocharged 2.0 liter engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and has SH-AWD. The Infiniti QX50 is a dramatic redo complete with great styling, a plush interior, and a VC-Turbo engine.

Note the top end QX50Autograph QX50 ($59,000 after I built it on infiniti site) is a good $8000 (plus if you add any options) more than the top end RDX Advanced with AWD. That's like getting 5 years of insurance for free if you go top RDX and not QX50. I like the seats of the QX50 better. Don't much care for either's center-stack, but RDX seems a bit more modern, with no stupid dual-screen crap. Infiniti charges more and cheaped out going with a 7 year old infotainment. Bad CVT, bad infotainment...wish I could put the QX50 seats in the RDX.

All I can say is as much as I like the Infiniti. We all know the Acura will last longer because of the CVT and VC engine in the Infiniti. The Infiniti would be better if they put better infotainment in it.

The Infiniti's center stack is still crap. The dual screen has been out for ages and need an upgrade.

Motor Trend says the RDX 2.0T is slower than the 2019 QX50 2.0T with it's new engine where the RDX new Accord 2.0T is putting out less.

"...The 268-hp crossover recorded a 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds and a 15.1-second quarter mile at 91.6 mph. That's a good bit slower than the last 280-hp Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport we tested but slightly quicker than the 272-hp Acura RDX A-Spec."

So C&D 6.6 second 0-60 mph was correct on calling it a Bspec or Cspec. Even Consumer Reports's 7.0s 0-60 was also correct. No sub 6-second time for RDX 2.0T.

I tend to notice that people with lower intelligence prefer Acura over Infiniti. No idea why, but that's what I've encountered with recently.

The Infiniti guy brags about "class-leading" rear legroom, but he doesn't mention that the QX50 has less front legroom than most.

Two PR flacks' presentations, followed by "judge for yourself" is not especially useful. At some point it will be interesting to see an actual comparison test between these two. My hunch is the Acura will clobber the Infiniti, but you never know...

Okay I’d definitely take the Infiniti over the Acura, but the Infinit guy bored the crap out of me! I almost exited out of the video 5 seconds after he started talking. YAWN. The QX50 needs a better spokesperson

Ugh, Infiniti is out. CVT is a non-starter for me for any vehicle. Droning and dulled performance are the cons. It might eek out another 1 mph vs an AT with real gears, but not enough to put up with the bad. Hopefully they'll put an 8 or 10 speed AT in a model of it in 2020.

I loved the qx50 for the Dual touch screens, and Infiniti has really got their technology down when it comes to Lane assist, it works better than any other car for sure, unfortunately the qx50 fails with the steering, so horrible whatever that wire stuff is, can't say much for the powertrain either on the one I drove, I ended up going with the Lincoln MKX 2016, with a 2.7 6 cylinder twin-turbo, I have never driven anything with a transmission and the engine meet up so well on a 6 cylinder! Unfortunately the lane assist is nothing compared Infiniti, but I prefer the handling, and the drivetrain on the MKX, Acuras instantly out, as is the Lexus for no touch screen, they were both DOA in my book
